Internal locksets are usually either a knob (round-shaped handle) or a lever (L-shaped handle). Mechanically, they are exactly the same on the inside – they just have a different look and feel.
Knobs are often more popular because they are classic, easy and intuitive to use. They also offer good protection against forced entry due to the round shape of the handle, and can be slightly cheaper than a lever equivalent.
Levers are easier to use for people who are elderly or disabled, or have a weak grip. They are easier to operate in a fire or emergency, and sometimes last longer than knob handles.
